Preparing for Meets

The typical swim meet lasts several hours and summer swim meets almost always take place on the hottest night of the week. Everyone’s patience can and will be tested. Knowing this, there are things you can do to prevent melt downs, the most crucial being plan ahead.

Morning swim practice is held on meet days however, swimmers are not allowed to be at the pool after 1:00 P.M. Instead, they should rest and hydrate to be ready to swim that evening. In addition, swimmers are not allowed in the Z pool prior to or during the meet. Swimmers can be disqualified for this.

At home meets, the area to the right of the lower deck facing the blocks is reserved for the visiting team. One table on the deck closest to the blocks is reserved for mite check-in and one table on the deck closest to the pavilion is reserved to check in swimmers and volunteers. No other space is reserved. You are not permitted to leave your belongings on tables or chairs to reserve your spot if you are not at the pool. All possible space is utilized and you can expect to share what space you do have.
